Is there a gym membership fee?

Not for clients training with a trainer, the only payment is between you and your trainer. However we do a offer limited casual memberships.

How long are the sessions?

Normally an intense 30 minutes, but if you’re new to exercise, we’ll work you up to it over time. However, we will build a bespoke training routine for you, if you have something different in mind. We can also customize workouts for specific requirements

Do I train with different trainers?

No, you’ll be assigned a trainer. We do our best to match goals and personality types, if it doesn’t work out, we’re happy to change it up..

Do you recommend doing cardio before or after exercise?

We are not fans of cardio, it is a redundant form of exercise which does very little for fat loss, and absolutely nothing to change the shape of your body. It’s time that could be better spent elsewhere.

Do you charge for a meal/eating plan?

Only if you don’t train with us. If you’re one of our clients, your eating plan is designed for you as part of the package, and continually updated and amended to ensure results.

Do you recommend any food delivery services?

We have a coffee kiosk, which sells coffee, cappuccino, espresso, as well as snacks, and ready made meals, which dovetail with dietary protocols

Does your gym get overcrowded?

Not at all, when we built the gym, our goal was to cultivate a much more informal friendly atmosphere than a large commercial gym, and we have capped the number of trainers and members that work and train here as to prevent overcrowding. Our total floor area is 470 sqm, which makes it larger than most commercial big box gyms

What results can I expect?

It’s very difficult to lose more than a kilogram of fat a week, especially if one’s metabolism is lethargic. But with our systems we’ve had clients lose 40 kilograms in 40 weeks, maintaining a steady 1 kilogram/week. This only happens if your metabolism stays elevated, and this can only happen with resistance training and adequate nutrition.

Do You Have WiFi?

We have free Wifi available for all.

Do you have contingencies for loadshedding?

We are off the grid, the way our system is set up, loadshedding will not affect us.

Personal Transformations

 
 

After lockdown in 2020, I weighed 126 Kg. The heaviest I have ever been. I was living on takeaways and Woolworths ready meals. I drank too much, was on antidepressants, cholesterol and blood pressure medication and did absolutely no exercise.

By early 2022, I had tried every fad diet and quick-fix exercise programme. Nothing worked. I would lose a few kilos, but the weight would come straight back the second I stopped.

In early 2022, I got a fat fright (pun intended); at my annual checkup with my physician, the worst thing he said to me was, ‘Wow, you are fat!’. We ran blood tests and I was called back to see him to discuss the results. I was petrified.

I had a fatty liver, sky-high cholesterol, worryingly high blood pressure, and my testosterone levels were extremely low. The only plan of action was to make drastic life changes.

I googled personal trainers and sent emails to a whole bunch. Glen from Unique Physique got back to me straight away. Actually, he was the only one who got back to me.

We set up an evaluation appointment in May 2022, and I must admit I went to see him with much trepidation. Walking into a gym full of lean, toned guys is extremely intimidating, especially if you are overweight and extremely self-conscious. But I sat with Glen, and we discussed my health issues and my reluctance to do cross-fit style training. Glens’ knowledge of nutrition, health and exercise really impressed me, and after a short discussion, I was “sold”. Glen sent through an eating plan that made sense and is easy to follow. My training plan was 3 x 20-minute sessions a week of weight training. The first day of training, I went cold turkey on the antidepressants as well.

After a few weeks of following the eating plan and going to the gym, I started seeing results. And then more results and even more results. The eating plan was easy to follow and adapt when needed; the 20-minute session flew by because Glen chatted with you the entire time. He doesn’t count your reps; he actually engages with you, and your session is over before you know it.

Fast forward to 2024, I am still off the antidepressants, my cholesterol is in range, I am off blood pressure medication, and my liver readings are all perfect.

In two short years, I have lost 31 kilograms and gained a mountain of strength and self-confidence. My physical and mental health have never been better; I don’t turn to food when I am stressed anymore. I have control over cravings and binging.

As of yesterday, 05 August 2024, I weigh 95 kg.

I cannot thank Glen enough for transforming my life.

I must admit - I have YOU to thank with respect to my conscious decision to successfully lead a HEALTHY and NUTRITIOUSLY-REWARDING lifestyle. Mere month's before driving past the Unique Physique signage outside your gym, I honestly NEVER thought I could genuinely carry out the necessary restrictions to my diet as well as consistently train for the past year-and-a-half and triumphantly reap the rewards of great health, a great build, and a newfound sky-rocketed confidence and self-esteem. For that, I am forever indebted to you and your effective and physically-favorable techniques and nutritional wisdom. Thanks to YOU and Damian, I can NOW truly say that I lead a healthy Lifestyle - this may not appear to sound like too much of a big deal; however, given my history of unhealthiness, poor self-esteem and an overall lack of motivation, THIS HAS PROVOKED A GREAT DEAL OF ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR ME and I am forever grateful for your services, your approachable and friendly demeanor, as well as your nutritional knowledge and willingness to impart that knowledge onto others. My journey is NOT over and I continue to further my fitness goals with your remarkable teachings as a template - forever engraved in this newfound healthy and structured mindset I seem to have adopted this past year. I wholeheartedly thank you for all you have done thus far and trust that this is NOT the last time you'll hear from me. I plan to visit the gym whenever I am in town just to remind myself of where it all started.
